A weird thing about the service industry is the amount of work related drinking that occurs.  It’s common knowledge that people who work in the service industry enjoy their tipple, but beyond after hours drinking, many bars and restaurants do a fair amount of wine, beer, and spirits tasting to familiarize the staff with the menu offerings.  Holding yourself together while making tasting notes and asking pertinent questions while drinking 6 or 8 or 12 varieties of some alcohol or another is definitely a learned skill.

All of which is to say that this afternoon’s wine tasting has left me feeling a bit melancholy.  

Oh, and also that I want to sit underneath a hot sun and drink this wine.
